Slingshot Introduces Windurf Foil.

Hood River: With a longstanding reputation for trendsetting and innovation, Slingshot Sports is expanding its revolutionary hydrofoil platform into the windsurfing world. The wind and watersports brand is set to release a full range of windsurf-specific foils, boards and components by this summer, with the first phase currently available for presale.

Entering the windsurfing market is a natural evolution, and a return to roots, for Slingshot Sports. Co-founders Jeff and Tony Logosz got their start in the industry in the 1980’s, as windsurfers who designed and built their own boards in the mecca of Hood River, Oregon.

“This is an exciting return to a sport we’ve always had an affection for,” said Jeff Logosz, Slingshot CEO. “When kiteboarding took off in the early ‘90s, we saw the enormous potential and shifted our full attention to it. We never forgot our roots though. We’re confident foiling has a very bright future across all watersports, and especially for windsurfing. Foil technology is going to breathe new life into a sport that has been ripe for something new and exciting for many years.”

With several years of foil design and manufacturing experience to draw from, Slingshot has infused the innovations from its time-tested kite foil line into its windsurf offerings. The 2018 catalogue will include six foil-specific boards and an extensive modular system featuring multiple wings, fuselages and masts that can be configured for a wide range of performance characteristics.

In the initial launch, only complete windsurf foil packages are available for presale. Once all components are in stock later this spring, customers will be able to choose from full packages or mix and match between five different front wings, five different fuselages, four different length aluminum masts and five different length carbon masts.

“Our modular system blows the doors off every other setup in the industry, both in performance and in the freedom you’ll have to customize your setup exactly the way you want,” Logosz said. “This is an exciting time for windsurfing. A lot of people out there have been waiting for something new to come along and reignite their passion for the sport. We’re happy to say, this is definitely it!”
