MOTO 2023 Day3

THE 3RD DAY OF THE MASTER OF THE OCEAN WAS A VERSATILE DAY WITH SMALL BUT FUN CONDITIONS!
CABARETE, Dominican Republic- 25th of February, 2023
The third day of the Master of the Ocean 2023 started with another fresh morning filled with tropical sunshine and glassy small but fun wave conditions. Several rounds of Surf Overall were carried out with a strong display of surfing skills put on by Francis Gonzalez Martinez (Dominican Republic), Bobo Gallagher (Hawaii) and Antonio Lusson (Cuba) who all came first in their respective heats. A repercharge Surf Overall heat also showcased the powerful surfing style of all-round athlete Christopher Buenger (German Team) who came in 1st place.
Afterwards, the second round of SUP Overall was carried out in 2 to 3 foot waves with smooth surfing put on display by Bobo Gallagher (Hawaii) coming in first place. The versatile Daniel Weiss (Germany) came in 2nd place with his powerful bottom turns. 3rd place was secured by the multitalented Christopher Buenger (Captain of the German Team).
The morning competition immediately continued with another heat of SUP Overall with a great display of surfing talent in small conditions by Brian ¨Action Man¨ Talma (Barbados) coming in 1st place. He was followed by wing foil champion Balz Mueller (Switzerland) in 2nd place with powerful cutbacks on his SUP. 3rd place was taken by Dominican and Cabarete local, Francis Gonzalez Martinez, with solid maneuvers.
The late morning started heating up with a brilliant sun while the SUP Team heats got underway. There was great action from Team Edelweiss (Switzerland) coming first and Team Paradise (Caribbean Islands) coming second in a tightly contested heat with good skill and style put on display by all participants. The second heat featured two Dominican Teams with the We Love Kite Team coming in 1st place with an incredible display of technique on SUP in the waves and the Mango House Team coming in a close second to advance to the finals of SUP Teams.
After the morning heats in Overall Surf and SUP the wind was quite light, however, the semifinals of the Team Wing Foil category were able to take place. Team We Love Kite (Dominican Republic) placed first displaying skill in the difficult light wind conditions and the Team Condor (Germany) placed second. It is very tricky for the athletes as the reef is right in front of the competition site and it is not easy to get up on the foil in light winds. In the final Team Wing Foil heat, Team Edelweiss (Switzerland) put on a good show for the audience to place first and Team Cocotazo (Dominican Republic) placed second to advance to the finals.
After an intense morning and early afternoon filled with action from three watersports, the 3rd day of the Master of the Ocean 2023 wound down with tropical beats as the wind remained light around 2 pm. Again, despite the changing conditions and nature ruling, the 3rd day was very exciting with an impressive display of skill in for the crowds in light conditions.
The day ended with a lovely cocktail party put on by the Germany Embassy at Kibayo on the Cabarete Lagoon for the Master of the Ocean 2023 athletes, competition organizers, VIPS and press. Maike Friedrichsen, German Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, and Katrin Werdermann, deputy head of the German Embassy in Santo Domingo, were present with other officials to greet the guests during a lovely tropical evening in Cabarete.
