Broadway Bomb a longboarding event held annually in New York City was broken up by the NYPD. Although longboarding is not a crime the NYPD used large construction fencing to corral skaters and arrest them.

That's stupid because if you think abut it riding a bike is a way of transportation just like skateboarding/longboarding. Not to mention bikes cause way more accidents and they don't need permits to be on the streets.

Im 14 I was on the 2010 Broadway bomb I was gonna be on the 2013 but my mom didnt let me. Now i kinda feel better. And they didnt break any law...

Unless the Broadway Bomb broke some traffic laws or caused some type of harm then they have no reason to be arrested!!

I know this is an old comment but...... The whole point of the broadway bomb is to have that insane adrenal rush, to dodge cars, pedestrians and other obstacles and just to enjoy what you love doing with people who do the same thing all around the country. Plus to get a permit for this is a lot of money were talking about closing a street that's pretty popular, getting police presence and other things and no one really wants to drop that kind of cash.

These cops need something better to do with their time, period. There are no good cops in the world. There's a certain type of personality that draws people into becoming cops. I'm not at all, you strawman my original point by ignoring my argument and bringing in bikes to paint my point in an extreme light. Skateboarders in the street pose a danger to the riders and vehicles may swerve or actually hit them. You bringing in the bike ban because they are transportation avoids the point that when in the proper area there is no potential for accidents as with skaters in the street. Thus by the logic of your argument it would be fine if cars used skater's areas.

Firstly I never said ban anything. Secondly bikers have lanes and even if they don't they are supposed to stay to the side not weave all over the street. By your logic it's okay for cars to drive on sidewalks, they're just a form of transportation and can go where ever they please.

It has more to do with civil disobedience, historically, that is entirely what skateboarders have come together massively for. If transportation is the biggest evil in America so be it, but going down peacefully can be a priority. Discretion dismissed and optimization be damned it's what is right that will be relevant.
