It wasnt that impressiv like shaun whites run with sick amplitude and 4 double corks in the same run like he did in 2013. I think Shaun white was underscored this time, the judges probably would have scored his run higher if he went higher.
your name as well as your comment imply that you haven't really undestood what snowboarding is about. danny can do the doubles as well, he showed that on the last hit, but unlike shawn, he can put together a stylish run with versatility and without becoming repetitive. this run was pure eye candy from top to bottom. that mctwist at the top easily beats a 1260 double cork.
Guess the judges look for style over spinning to win.
Shaun's runs have been boring for years now. He's lost his spark.

*facepalm Sure he can spin a lot. But he's got zero style. I've never seen him ride for fun. The wins went to his head and he lost something in my opinion he never had.

New easy livin or something close to it. But one other key fact about the board he was riding was that it was a traditional camber verses flying v because the pipe was firm and solid(icey) which camber helps a lot with razor shape edges gripping the wall. It shows in his riding. Got pop!

Such a sick run!! What makes it even better is that not only did he win on the last run but he bump Shaun White from the podium in the process!! I'm sure Davis is super stoked about that.
Actually riders aren't like that at all. They are not haters like all the really cool people in YouTube. Many of these competitors ride together all the time! Too bad his run still isn't as good as Shaun's previous runs in the past years. Plus also didn't you hear or read what Shaun said this year? He was so unmotivated for this competition he barely practiced. He knows his time is up, and other riders do too. They are not competing against the best Shaun white and they know it.

Or at least DD+the Frends are...don't you remember the giant hoopla over Shaun White's wonderful and uplifting Olympic teammates...the ones who talked shit about Shaun from day one? The ones who ragged on the greatest snowboarder of our time for allowing his own sponsor to have practice runs built for him...knowing good and damn well DD and Co. would've LOVED to have the same? Yeah, good supportive group of guys there. Top notch Olympic teammate behavior.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to wonder that. It was driving me nuts - I can't imagine busting those spins out with a hood on, it looks like it would be so restrictive.

Danny's run was definitely my favourite! It looked like Shaun White couldn't even be bothered. Shaun needs to change his run up if he wan't to remain at the top. Hopefully this means judging is favouring creativity over spinning. In half pipe at least.

I pretty sure people who talk crap about Shaun White forget that he destroyed many professionals for many many years in a row before he started making video games and his brand. This run still isn't as good as Shaun's previous runs! Good for danny tho, huge amplitude! Perfect landings at the top of the cope! Were more entering into the same era that started when tony hawk stopped competing, riders just aren't as good even to this day,they can barely get off a 720 these days.. Anyways, if anyone else won as many golds as Shaun and repeated as many times as he did, including the Olympics, I'm sure they would have their own brands too. Stop hating on the best snowboarder ever and that is a fact. He pushed the sport into what is is today, I don't see danny pushing the limits with new tricks..
***** I definitely agree with most of what you said, style is a huge part of snowboarding of course, and that first hit was sick. But you can't say Shaun wasn't having fun like he's some evil dude or something. But that is how Shaun took snowboarding, to another level that is. I'm pretty sure there will be a cap with all snowboarding events, are they ever going to start doing quads?! Doubt it. I just don't understand all the Shaun white hate I guess. And I am a huge rider with tons of experience and used to complete in the usasa's.
***** I mean look at mcmorris. He's pushing the big air and slopestyle to extremes with some people catching up, Shaun did that to superpipe years ago and to slopestyle many years ago. It's about the biggest baddest nastiest tricks but I don't see people saying anything about that?
I'm stoked someone from the frends crew one it. Those guys actually display style when they ride in the pipe and don't just try to flip as much as they possible can. They are also excellent free riders too and film great parts in the backcountry as well, plus they are cool as people too, not to mention White is a sellout
