This was a worlds first! Tom Hartmann from the GWA founded the SFT, A tour with not wind powered foil sports. And at the biggest boat show in the world, they built a huge pool (20*60 meters) where the first competition was held.

Spectacular racing and sports we want to see more of!

Congratulations to Benjamin, Titouan and Rob who are just on another level!
As pointed out by ‪@tgyal‬ 2nd in the women division was Viola Lippitsch, not Nia Suardiaz!
Sorry about that!!!

Hi, I'm new to these competitions: aren't there any rights of way or stuff like that to rule the possible interferences?

    1. gleiten.tv

No. It was the first competition like this so they needed to fugure out rules as they went :)

  3. andrew-th6jd

this looks like fun. cool stuff.

    1. gleiten.tv

  4. WRoadGaming

how long does it take for the average complete noob to learn the basic of this? from never trying it before to being able to at least stay above water?

    1. gleiten.tv

It depends: People say between 300-500 starts. But it depends on so many things: Have you been on the water before? Did you skateboard? how is your balance? What gear do you have? Even for a water sports enthusiasts, it is harder than one might think!

    1. gleiten.tv

totally agree, but you can have both: professional basketball is cool but shooting hoops with your friends is great too..!

  8. monkeyzeetube

  9. TheCureThatKillz

Hydro Foils are awesome but not everything needs to be turned into a competition. Talk about boring to watch. I think I’d rather watch golf and from me that’s sayin something

    1. gleiten.tv

      Golf is great to watch..!

    2. gleiten.tv

How about a pump cross? 4 at the same time! It was way better live!

    3. endurancefarm7537

    5. xploration1437

      Go whine to your boyfriend.

  10. youdigsurf

hmm maybe they should do weight category the lighter you are the smaller the foil you can put and the faster you will be, it's never been taken in consideration i dont know why !

    1. gleiten.tv

Actually, the two guys who won were around 80kgs

  11. YossiSheba

    so cool.

  12. tgyal

    2. DrKnowNothing1

@mattonfoilseparate women’s division, or everyone together? How did times compare? (I’m trying to get my wife excited about pump-foiling)

    3. gleiten.tv

@DrKnowNothing1 They were slower but still looked great..! and as it was a close race, it was still interesting..!

  13. thomasisup6760

@mattonfoil thanks so much maybe Rob went for a bit too small ;-)

    4. irf888

@mattonfoil Hi. So glad you answered this question, thanks. What front wing and stabiliser was Balz using? It looked huge. Regards.

    5. gleiten.tv

Stab I don't know, but the Frontwing was the 1150 Leviathan - "Oldie but Goldie" he said :)

  21. smotruns

    Nice

    1. gleiten.tv

      Thanks

  22. slappysurf

Did you get to see which foils the #1 and #2 place were using?

    1. gleiten.tv

Benjamin used a Duotone and Titouan a Cabrinha. I'll ask them which one and get back to you!

    2. pete3036

guess with a big foil it was difficult to the riders to make the curve without touching the ground, right?@mattonfoil

    3. gleiten.tv

@pete3036 we sometimes did.. There were a few cuts in the pool as well so yes, that was part of the game too!

    4. gleiten.tv

Gear of the winner: Benjamin May: Duotone: Frontwing: Glide 1100 2.0, Stab: H210, Fuselage: 60cm, mast: 76 slim 2.0, board: 3.4 strider SLS as he explained here:: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFGZBo-Iy7k/?igsh=MTNpdnNhcnM4ODRzYQ== Second: Titouan: Cabrinha - But he didn't have his own gear so he just went with his "Cabrinha"-Answer Third: Rob von Roll, Indiana: Frontwing Barracuda M (850cm2), Condor XS Stab (101cm2), XXS Tail, Drive 75 Mast, His own Signature von Roll 90 Pumpboard. 5. DrKnowNothing1

@mattonfoilneed a slightly deeper pool next year? Although shallow water improves lift, due to hydro equivalent of ground-effect, correct?

    6. gleiten.tv

@DrKnowNothing1 I also heard about that and seems legit. Pool depth is something you have to consider when going into turns...

    7. DrKnowNothing1

@mattonfoilrider weights to go w gear choices?

    8. gleiten.tv

      @DrKnowNothing1 The first 2 around 80kgs, place 3 and 4 50ishkgs
