We kite surfed massive waves and swam with whales
Once again Stig Hoefnagel and I teamed up to create an epic adventurous video filmed and documented by Skatermanco (Antonio) Maarten Haeger joined us on many adventures to share moments, create memories and keep an eye out for each other as we chased humongous swell and strong winds.
Powered by @capitalcom_moments and @vantagekites1260 we set out on a mission to see if we can ride monster waves on the surface of the ocean, as well as discovering what insane creatures live below the surface. Mare Vivum, as te video is called, stands for a sea that's alive.

This trip was one to remember. Sharing incredible moments with mates on and in the water. Another reminder that our planet is absolutely beautiful but that we have to treat it with caution if we like to keep it a paradise. Respect for nature and anything living on this planet is and absolute necessity.

Amazing shots! Mauritius is really a very beautiful place and Le Morne an epic spot. Sadly, there is no professional rescure with at least one Coast guard jetski. Also, during peak season (August, Sep) it is very crowded as Surfers, Windersurfers and Kitesurfers - all want in the wave. So you were really luckly to enjoy the wave without others. That's the beauty of BIG Days.
We definitely felt lucky to catch those big days, and we always prioritize safety by keeping an eye out for each other while out on the water!🙌🏼

Great shots and amazing storytelling, well done! However, one important remark if I may speak in the name of whales... 07:45 Pedro, too bad you're advertising an illegal activity... Swimming with whales in Mauritius is forbidden by law, and unethically done in practice. Those animals deserve rights too! Quite disapointing for "someone that's been working as a marine conservation for the past five years"!

This is not the message transmitted in your video “one of the few places where you have the opportunity to swim with sperm whales” ..you guys have an audience and shouldnt be promoting this kind of activity, marine biologist or not. Was your biologist given permission to go swimming with them? The boat that took you guys out to see the whales had permission? Was it an excursion which was part of an approved scientific observation?

Awesome, just came from Le Morne myself. What time of year were you guys there? Had a guy trying to sell me into swimming with whales but didn’t believe that they’d be passing Le Morne in September

Swimming with whales is strictly forbidden in mauritius as it stresses the animals. It's sad that some people just ignore it or don't inform themselves.
We fully support that sentiment, as our video includes professional guidance emphasizing the necessity of ethical and responsible wildlife interactions in their natural habitat.🙏🏼

Epic film! Traveling to Mauritius on Saturday and the forecast says 40kn+ You should check out Poste Lafayette next time.. better 2nd option than anse la raie. Many kites getting caught in the trees there. In Lafayette there is much more space also no people 🤙🏾
I’ve been there one and as you said a great option too! It was just forecasted to be stronger in the north haha!
@Gielvlugt Forecast are always difficult in Mauritius especially in the north .. But Le Morne always have wind haha Just watched the film a third time during breakfast. Just beautiful 😍

Nice video. Looks like you had some amazing conditions but a little heavy. The edit made Mauritius look like the Irish Sea with the over pushed blue color. At any moment I was expecting a bear to jump out and attack Leo DiCaprio. Mauritius is more beautiful viewed in it’s natural colors. ☀️
So that’s feedback for the filmmaker I guess. I thought the colours were quite sick haha!
To be honest, it felt more like the North Sea than the Indian Ocean that week. Very stormy rainy conditions. Not the typical calm and beautiful Mauritius we know

OOOOHHH I love me a big wave sesh!!! The feeling of flying off the top of a mountain of water is just unbeatable! Though there's always that worry that there's another one breaking behind it that might swallow you as you land.
